The Ooredoo app, known as Ooredoo TV Go and available on iOS and Android devices, will allow Omani subscribers to stream HD content and access over 6,000 hours of series and movies from Starz Play, which is backed by the US cablenet.

Johan Buse, chief commercial officer at Ooredoo, said: “This is only the beginning for Ooredoo TV Go. We will have more content and channels added in the future and we also have ambitious plans to have it optimised for television.”

Maaz Sheikh, CEO at Starz Play, added: “The combination of SVoD platforms and telecom operators now brings Arab consumers the premium content they want at an affordable price, and offers them greater control over what they watch, when they watch and what device they watch it on.”

Earlier this year Middle East broadcaster MBC and agreed a deal with Ooredoo TV to launch their first channel together.
