SPT’s Chavez drama set for Colombia

A broadcaster in Colombia has picked up Sony Pictures Television (SPT)’s forthcoming drama about the life of Venezuela’s late president Hugo Chavez.

RCN TV in Colombia will air historical drama El Comandante, which totals 60 episodes and is billed as SPT’s most ambitious Latin American original series to date.

Colombian actor Andrés Parra (Escobar) plays the president in the series, which is set to air in a primetime slot on RCN TV in 2017. Chavez died in 2013.

Other broadcasters to have acquired the series include US Hispanic broadcaster Telemundo.
