SPT Oz poaches Roadshow exec

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is hiring a Village Roadshow executive to drive its sales and distribution business in Australia and New Zealand.

Greg Sneddon takes over from Mark Young, SPT’s former senior VP for distribution and sales in Australasia, who moved to London to spearhead the studio’s sales in the UK, Ireland and Africa.

Sneddon has been executive director of distribution and strategy for the TV and digital arm of Roadshow Entertainment for more than seven years.

He worked with Roadshow Entertainment and TV MD Chris Chard on deals with Foxtel and the just-concluded arrangement with newly launched subscription VoD service Stan, which covers first-run movies and some TV series and library titles.

Tokyo-born Sneddon was director of pay TV ventures and Japan for MGM from 2002 to 2005. During that time he was MGM’s rep on the board of Movie Network, the Australian pay TV co-venture between Warner Bros, Walt Disney, Roadshow and MGM, which folded in 2012 when Foxtel decided to buy movies direct from the majors.

He is expected to join SPT in March. Roadshow is yet to name a replacement.
