Spotnitz’s Big Light hires development duo

Medici Masters of Florence was shot in English and stars Dustin Hoffman

Frank Spotnitz’s London-based Big Light Productions has hired execs from rival prodcos Wall to Wall and Red Production Company to boost its development team.

Francis Flannery is joining as head of development, charged with building the company’s original development slate and strategy.

Emily Feller is coming on board as executive producer of Big Light’s drama series Medici: Masters of Florence and other forthcoming original series.

Both will report to recently hired head of drama Katie McAleese, who arrived from the BBC in February.

Flannery was most recently development producer at Warner Bros-owned Wall to Wall, which she joined as development editor in 2012. She began her career at Kudos Film & TV before working as a freelance script editor on shows such as The Prisoner, MI High, Coming Up and New Tricks

Feller has been an in-house producer for Red for the past four years, working on series including Unforgiven, Exile, Scott & Bailey and The Driver. Prior to working for Red, she was a script editor for Hat Trick Productions.

Spotnitz launched Big Light in 2013 and it has since produced series including The Man in the High Castle for Amazon, Ransom for CBS and Medici: Masters of Florence for Rai and Netflix.
