Spike returns to Rescue

US cablenet Spike TV has ordered another 20 episodes of its original series Bar Rescue to premiere in the fall.

The series is fronted by Jon Taffer, who uses his experience in the nightlife industry and abrupt manner to ruffle feathers and turn around failing bars and nightclubs.

The third season, which premiered in February, averaged 1.8 million viewers and increased the timeslot average by 282%.

Bar Rescue is produced by Eyeworks USA with JD Roth, Todd A Nelson, Brant Pinvidic, DJ Nurre, Tim Warren and Jon Taffer as executive producers.

Spike has also commissioned a pilot of Hungry Investors – another series from Eyeworks with Taffer on board. The programme sees Taffer and two other restaurant experts seek out eateries that are failing despite having the potential to succeed and turn them around through a competition against other establishments.
