Spike prepares for Harvest

Spike TV in the US has linked up with movie and TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer to develop an original drama about a father who turns to a life of crime to protect a family secret.

Harvest is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Horizon Television and explores the life of a cemetery caretaker who finds his small-town life in jeopardy when his estranged criminal father tracks him down. To protect his daughter from his past, the caretaker teams up with his father to deal in the illegal tissue trade.

The show has been written by Ian Sobel and Matt Morgan (12 Monkeys, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) with Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman exec producing.

Spike has been increasing its drama offerings recently and is preparing to premiere its first scripted series in eight years, Tut, which is set to air this summer.

The network has also optioned scripts for The Crusaders from Pierce Brosnan’s Irish DreamTime, Sennet Entertainment and Deep Web, from producer/director/writer Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures.
