Spielberg dramas return to CBS

US network CBS has renewed Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi series Extant and Under the Dome for summer 2015.

Under the Dome returns for its third season and Extant for its second. Both are from Spielberg’s Amblin Television and join reality series Big Brother and new drama Zoo on CBS’s 2015 summer line-up.

Under the Dome, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, has been sold to numerous broadcasters worldwide including Channel 5 in the UK.

Mystery thriller Extant, which starts Oscar-winner Halle Berry (Monster’s Ball), premieres on US network CBS on July 9.

In January, online retail giant Amazon struck a deal with CBS allowing it to stream the 13-part series on its Prime Instant Video service just four days after broadcast on TV. Both shows were produced alongside CBS Television Studios.
