SPI enters Brazilian pay TV

Polish distributor-turned-broadcaster SPI International is rolling out nine of its channels into Brazil’s pay TV market.

Factual net DocuBox, martial arts-focused FightBox, adrenaline sports-skewing Fast&FunBox and music channel 360 TuneBox are all set to become available to Brazilian viewers after the SPI nets were accredited by regulatory body Ancine.

Movie net FilmBox Arthouse, FashionBox, gaming channel MadscreenBox and adult duo Erox and Eroxxx will also be launched.

Thivá Fróes de Souza, SPI’s director in Brazil, said the company was now finalising deals with pay TV operators in the country. FilmBox is already available in Brazil via SPI’s global app FilmBox Live, which offers VoD access to the channel’s content.

Brazil’s pay TV sector has been booming in recent years, with an estimated 40% of the country paying for cable services, according to SPI. The broadcaster’s channels are already available across Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and the Middle East.
