SPT’s Halcyon, X Company get Ovation

MIPTV: US arts network Ovation TV has picked up two drama series from Sony Pictures Television.

Left Bank Pictures’ The Halcyon aired on ITV in the UK

The shows are both set during the Second World War. The Halcyon (8×60’), produced by Left Bank Pictures (The Crown) for ITV, is set in a London hotel, while X Company (28×60’) follows five Canadian, American and British recruits who train as secret agents.

The latter made by Toronto’s Temple Street Productions and Budapest-based Pioneer Stillking Films for CBC, with Ovation picking up all three seasons.

“Ovation has had great success with this type of event programming and we anticipate that our viewers will find new favourites to obsess over when these series debut later this year and next,” said Scott Woodward, Ovation’s executive VP of programming and production.

The Halcyon is lined up for the fall, while X Company is due to premiere in the first quarter of 2018.

Ovation TV is available to around 50 million subscribers in the US, via cable, satellite, telco networks and on VoD.
