Sony hires ex-Syfy exec Plotkin

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has appointed the former head of development at Syfy as senior VP of drama development at its studio.

Andrew Plotkin has joined SPT in the role having most recently co-founded production company All In Media alongside fellow TV exec Paul Shapiro.

Plotkin set up All In Media following stints with New Regency Productions, where he was head of television between 2012 and 2015, and Syfy, where he oversaw development and served as senior VP of original programming between 2009 and 2012.

At SPT, Plotkin will report to Lauren Stein, who was recently promoted to executive VP of drama development.

The appointment follows Sony Pictures Entertainment promoting Jeff Frost, Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter to replace outgoing TV presidents Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, who are joining Apple.
