Sonar preps Alice in Deadland series

Sonar Entertainment has licensed rights to the Alice in Deadland series of dystopian novels from Indian author Mainak Dhar, which it plans to adapt for television.

US-based Sonar, which last week launched a paid-for TV movies and miniseries channel on YouTube, picked up rights to the books from Barcelona-based Pontas Literary & Film Agency.

The author has become a self-publishing success story through Amazon eBooks with 13 titles to his credit. Alice in Deadland is a twist on the Lewis Carroll fairytale, featuring a 15-year-old girl living in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by zombies.

Other projects on the Sonar slate include Fix It Men, a copro with ABC Studios, about people who travel back in time to prevent Armageddon, and The Drake Equation, a Tim Kring conspiracy thriller about extra-terrestrial contact.
