US drama firm Sonar Entertainment has revealed more details about the executives covering factual and kids’ content that have moved over to the company from Tricon Films & Television.

The senior executives starting at Sonar following its acquisition of the Canadian outfit’s library include Jeff Hevert, senior VP for factual development; Ashley Rite, VP for kids and family; and Marc Whitehead, VP for factual production.

They join their former boss, Andrea Gorfolova, founder and president of Tricon, who was announced ^[2] as one of numerous “key executives” to be joining Sonar from Tricon, which entered insolvency ^[3] in December last year.

C21 understands Frank Saperstein, who had led ^[4] Tricon’s kids and family division since 2014, is not moving to Sonar.

The exec told C21 he is pursuing new opportunities and partnerships via his company Surprise Bag, which he set up in 2012 ^[6] after leaving his post as senior VP of family television at Entertainment One.

The deal between Sonar and Tricon was confirmed this month after C21 first reported ^[7] on the talks between the two companies in March.

The pact covers more than 1,500 hours of Tricon’s library programming and marked Sonar’s entry into genres such as non-scripted, kids and family, with shows including Disney XD/Teletoon’s Counterfeit Cat.

Sonar is also acquiring Tricon properties in development, such as children’s series Go Away Unicorn for Disney and Corus, non-scripted series Texas Metal for Discovery and Food’s Greatest Hits for Scripps.

LA-based Sonar is the distributor behind Tom Hardy’s recent BBC/FX period drama Taboo, while it also produces The Shannara Chronicles for MTV, The Son for AMC and Sky Deutschland’s Das Boot.

It also has exclusive first-look deals with companies including George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, Robert and Susan Downey’s Team Downey and Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
