Snapchat, Vertical mine modern dating

Snapchat is again teaming up with Elisabeth Murdoch’s Vertical Networks to coproduce a series, this time on the theme of dating.

Unscripted comedy Ghost Hunt will debut on Snapchat’s Shows platform later this year and follows Snapchat and mobile-first producer Vertical working together on three other shows: Phone Swap, Yes Theory and Without Limits.

It also marks the first copro between Vertical and the US arm of UK producer and talent agency Avalon, which is producing for Snapchat for the first time.

Hosted by comedian Matteo Lane, the series takes aim at the modern dating phenomenon of ‘ghosting,’ in which one person stops responding to the other’s messages apparently for no reason.

Lane helps a real person track down someone from their romantic past who ghosted them, ultimately bringing the two parties together for some “ball-busting and closure,” according to Snapchat.

The series is executive produced by Chloe Pisello at Avalon and Matt Harper at Vertical Networks.

“It’s a groundbreaking platform with a hard-to-reach audience, and we’ve enjoyed the challenge of making this show for this new medium,” said David Martin, CEO at Avalon USA.
