Slingshot strikes Oil

David Ellender’s fledgling US prodco Slingshot Global Media has partnered with UK funding company Nevision to develop a drama set in the Persian Gulf in the 1970s.

Oil was created by British screenwrtier Alan Whiting (Heartbeat, Wire in the Blood) alongside Matthew Faulk and Mark Skeet, who will write the series.

It will follow a young American woman and her oil executive husband, who live amongst a tight-knit community of expats from America and Europe in the Persian Gulf in the early 1970s.

Ellender, former CEO of FremantleMedia International, relocated to the US in February to launch Slingshot, which will produce and distribute the series.

Neil Zeiger and James Cabourne, who set up Nevision alongside Tim Buxton last year, will exec produce.
