Sky1 travels with Hooten & The Lady

Sky1 in the UK has ordered a globetrotting drama starring Michael Landes (CSI, Adventures of Superman) that follows a pair of explorers searching for lost treasure.

Hooten & The Lady (8×60′), which will also star Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy, W1A), is being produced by Red Planet Pictures and follows the duo as they track down fabled relics around the world.

Red Planet founder Tony Jordan is showrunner and heads a writing team including co-creators James Payne, Sarah Phelps, Jeff Povey and Richard Zajdlic, while Sky Vision will distribute globally.

Jordan said he hoped the show would be “appointment-to-view television for a discerning drama audience. We will be bringing a movie of the week to our audience with the highest production values and we are elated to have found Michael and Ophelia to bring our stories to life.”

The show will be shot in South Africa, Italy and other countries and is the latest original for Sky1, which recently upped its commitment to drama by commissioning year round.

The series will be executive produced by Jordan and Simon Winstone for Red Planet and Sky commissioning editor Cameron Roach, with Caroline Levy as series producer. Roach and Sky’s head of drama Anne Mensah commissioned the series.
