Sky waddles off with penguin special

Sky1 in the UK has ordered a one-off factual special about penguins from the satcaster’s distribution and production arm.

We Love Penguins! (1×60’) is being produced by Sky Vision Productions and will explore the appeal of penguins using user-generated footage of the birds.

International sales will be handled by Sky Vision, which has been expanding its operations over recent months.

Kylie Munnich was appointed as director of drama and comedy last week, working with Sky’s drama and comedy commissioners as well as independent producers to develop programming. The firm has also signed a number of first-look and development deals.

They include a partnership with start-up UK indie Chalkboard TV that will see Sky Vision support the creation of entertainment and factual entertainment properties that it can then distribute internationally.
