Sky Vision gives pottery format a spin

UK distributor Sky Vision has picked up a primetime format involving pottery from the producer of Bake Off for next month’s Mipcom.

The Great Pottery Throw Down tests skills, patience and creativity

The Great Pottery Throw Down (6×60’) is from UK-based Love Productions and follows competitors as they attempt to prove their pottery prowess.

Ten contestants face tasks testing their skills, patience and creativity at the pottery wheel and their ability to master different techniques while being judged by two professionals.

The show is being produced for BBC2 and is described as “Bake Off’s messier cousin.”

Barnaby Shingleton, director of entertainment and factual at Sky Vision, said pottery had provided “an in-built narrative, from throwing to glazing to firing, with plenty of opportunities for both triumph and disaster.”

Sky took a 70% stake in Love last year, with the prodco now boasting production bases in Bristol, New York and LA.
