Sky seals German HBO deal

Sky Deutschland has extended an agreement with premium US cablenet HBO that gives it the premiere rights to US series in Germany.

Sky will remain the German and Austrian home of HBO series including Boardwalk Empire, The Newsroom and Game of Thrones until the end of the decade.

Series will be available on the satcaster’s on-demand platform Sky Go immediately after their HBO premiere on the US east coast.

Last week the European commission signed off on a £2.9bn (US$4.71bn) takeover of Sky Deutschland by its UK sister firm BSkyB.
