The as-yet untitled show is being coproduced by UK prodco Zig Zag Productions and Krempelwood Entertainment for Sky Sports.

It will explore the work of Vardy’s V9 Academy, which attempts to uncover the footballing talent of the future.

The show was commissioned for Sky by Andy Feeney, with Zig Zag CEO Danny Fenton and Andy Scott exec producing.

Vardy rose from the semi-professional levels of the sport to spearhead Leicester City’s remarkable Premier League championship win last season to beat odds of 5,000/1.

His V9 Academy will take in 42 successful applicants from amateur football, split them into three teams and test their potential across a five-day residential programme.

Zig Zag Productions has been going behind the scenes to film the process and coaching. The series originally had the working title Jamie Vardy’s Having an Academy.

The series is the first fruit of a development deal between Zig Zag and Fleet Street Sport and Media Group, which is led by former Ireland international and Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn.
