Sky pins on second Tin Star season

Tim Roth plays a London police officer with a difficult past in Tin Star

UK pay TV operator Sky has ordered a second season of its drama Tin Star, starring Tim Roth, ahead of the show’s bow later this month.

The thriller, produced by Endemol Shine Group-owned Kudos, stars Roth and Christina Hendricks and has been written by Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later). It was picked up by Amazon in the US.

The 10×60’ first season tells the story of a former London detective who moves with his family to the Rocky Mountains to escape his past. Distribution is handled by Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision.

The show’s first season will become available in its entirety to Sky Atlantic subscribers and customers of its SVoD service Now TV on September 7.

Executive producers are Alison Jackson and Diederick Santer and both seasons of Tin Star have been commissioned for Sky by Anne Mensah, head of drama, and Zai Bennett, director of programmes for Sky entertainment UK and Ireland.

The order is part of Sky’s push to expand its original programming efforts with a particular focus on drama.
