Sky orders Haunting, buys Stalker

UK satcaster BSkyB has ordered a supernatural drama, and picked up US series Stalker from Warner Bros International Television Distribution, for its female-skewing Sky Living network.

The Enfield Haunting (3×60′) is being adapted from author Guy Lyon Playfair’s novel This House is Haunted and follows a rookie paranormal researcher who tries to help a family that is being terrorised by unseen forces.

It will be produced by UK-based Eleven Films and has been written by Joshua St Johnston (Walking on Sunshine, Sweeney Todd), with Kristoffer Nyholm (The Killing) on board as director. Cameron Roach, Sky’s acting head of drama, will executive produce along with Jamie Campbell from Eleven.

UK actors Timothy Spall and Matthew Macfadyen, as well as Bafta nominated Juliet Stevenson (Emma, The Village) will star in the show, which Sky said would “form the cornerstone” of its spring 2015 schedule. International distribution of the series will be handled by eOne.

Meanwhile Sky Living will also air CBS psychological drama Stalker later this year as part of its autumn schedule. It joins The Blacklist, Hannibal, Elementary and Criminal Minds on Sky Living’s slate of acquired US drama.

The network yesterday ordered reality series Desi Rascals for its upcoming slate.
