Sky nabs BBC comedy commissioner

Sky in the UK has appointed an executive from the BBC to work across comedy commissioning.

Tilusha Ghelani becomes commissioning editor for Sky Comedy and is tasked with ordering and executive producing shows for Sky1, Sky Atlantic and Sky Arts.

Ghelani will also commission programming for Sky’s Comedy Shorts slots via its On Demand service and will work on series including Stella, Trollied and Rovers.

She was previously an assistant comedy commissioner at the BBC and commissioned and oversaw scripted comedy created by both independent and in-house production companies.

Ghelani, who takes up her new role in August, has also spent more than a decade as a comedy producer working across shows such as Paul Whitehouse’s Nurse and Just a Minute.

Jon Mountague, Sky’s head of comedy commissioning, said Ghelani will “help us cement our place as the home of the very best comedy available anywhere.”
