Sky joins up for debut Euro copro

Sky1 in the UK is working with sister companies in Italy and Germany on a new drama series that marks the first time the firms have developed a show together.

21st Century Fox-backed trio Sky1, Germany’s Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia are adapting Diabolik (10×60’), which is based on an Italian comic book series from the 1960s created by Angela and Luciana Giussani.

It will feature characters from the comic stories, which revolve around a thief who steals from criminals.

Sky Italia and Sky Deutschland’s exec VPs of programming, Andrea Scrosati and Gary Davey respectively, are working on the project with Sky’s head of drama Anne Mensah. A showrunner is currently being sought for the series, which Sky Italia first started developing in 2013.

“This project has the potential to capture the imagination of our collective audiences,” said Mensah. “It is great to have found a property that the broadcasters are equally passionate about.”
