Sky, Discovery visit Churchill’s Toyshop

Discovery Networks UK and Ireland and the distribution arm of European satcaster Sky have linked up for a show about a UK research lab that worked on ingenious weapons during the Second World War.

Churchill’s Toyshop uses archive footage and reconstructions

Churchill’s Toyshop (1×60), coproduced by Sky Vision and Discovery, will explore wartime prime minister Winston Churchill’s clandestine lab that was dedicated to creating strange and inventive devices.

The show uses archive footage, expert interviews and reconstructions to explore the secretive arms race that produced more than 50 unusual weapons, including a British bazooka, a sticky bomb and an anti-tank device.

Danny Tipping, director of programming and development at Sky Vision Productions, and Kate Haddock are exec producers, along with Adam Jacobs, Discovery’s director of factual programming.
