Sky Arts to tell Judy Garland’s story

UK network Sky Arts has ordered a documentary about the final days of Hollywood star Judy Garland.

Judy Garland

Passions – Judy Garland by Marc Almond (1×60′) is from UK producer Icon Films and is being presented by British singer and performer Almond.

The show will attempt to piece together the poignant last days of Garland, who is considered by some to have possessed the greatest voice of the 20th century.

Garland died in 1969 aged just 47 in a tiny mews house in West London, having starred in films including The Wizard of Oz. The new doc is the second film Icon has produced for Sky Arts’ Passions strand, following last year’s show on playwright Philip Larkin.

In related news, UK commercial broadcaster Channel 5 has commissioned Icon to produce a follow-on from its 1×60’ show Restless Legs: Can’t Stop Twitching.

The new doc will reveal the results of research into the condition since the original film in 2016.
