Silberwasser named Telemundo boss

Luis Silberwasser has resurfaced as president of NBCUniversal’s US Hispanic arm Telemundo following his recent departure from Discovery Networks International (DNI).

Silberwasser will start as president of Telemundo Network in August, reporting to chairman of Hispanic enterprises and content Joe Uva.

Based in Miami, Silberwasser will have overall responsibility for the Telemundo broadcast network, including Telemundo Studios, which produces original Spanish-language content for US Hispanics.

Silberwasser left his position as executive VP and chief content officer at DNI last month after 16 years with the factual specialists. Discovery said he had taken the decision to move closer to his family in Miami.

Previously he was senior VP of the content group for Discovery Networks Latin America and US Hispanic, helping to launch and general-manage the company’s two Hispanic channels, Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia.

He replaces Telemundo’s Emilio Romano, who left the job of president  in October after two years
