The Middlesteins is based on Jami Attenberg’s novel of the same name, which explores the life of a married couple whose relationship falls apart when the wife becomes obsessed with food.

The show has Liz Tigelaar (Casual) and Jason Kim (Girls) attached as exec producers and will be produced by CBS Television Studios.

Tassler revealed she would be stepping down as chairman of CBS Entertainment in September after a decade in the role. She oversaw commissions including The Good Wife, How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory.

Tassler was replaced by the network’s head of current programming, Glenn Geller, who became president of CBS Entertainment, reporting to CEO Les Moonves. Bridget Wiley, formerly the network’s senior VP of current programming, was then upped to take over from Geller.
