Showtime gives up Sex drama

US cablenet Showtime has cancelled drama Masters of Sex after four seasons.

Showtime has confirmed that last month’s season four finale of the Sony Pictures Television-produced show was its last.

The series featured UK actor Michael Sheen (The Queen) as William Masters, the real-life American gynaecologist who pioneered research into the science of human sexuality.

Michelle Ashford served as showrunner and executive producer, having developed the series based on Thomas Maier’s biography of the same name.
