LA-based producer Shout! Factory is preparing to reboot classic TV gameshow Starcade after acquiring worldwide format rights.
The deal has been struck with the game’s creators, JM Productions, James Caruso and Mavis Arthur, and will see Shout! develop and produce a new version of the show for viewers in the US and abroad.
The format, which will be exec produced by Shout! and JM Productions, debuted in 1982 and features video game players competing against each other.
It aired on cablenet WTBS, although broadcaster details for the reboot have not been disclosed.
