Shiver hires Ruben for doc formats

ITV Studios has hired the former creative director of Ricochet and MD of Watershed Television to lead documentary formats at its factual label Shiver.

Mark Rubens has been named head of documentary formats at Shiver, which is known for Michael Apted’s series Up, which it describes as the oldest documentary format in television.

While at Ricochet and Watershed, Rubens helped devise and oversee formats including Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts, Stacey Dooley Investigates (both BBC3), Cowboy Builders for Channel 5 and Extreme Dreams for BBC2.

Too Big to Walk and Show Me Your Money, both devised by Rubens for Channel 4, have been remade in the US and Europe.

Rubens will report to Shiver MD Alexander Gardiner.
