Shine TV catches Hunted exec for doc role

UK-based Shine TV, part of Endemol Shine Group, has appointed the executive producer of Celebrity Hunted and The Island with Bear Grylls as its new head of documentaries.

Nicola Brown

Nicola Brown will report to Shine TV MD Tanya Shaw in the newly created role and be responsible for developing and expanding the indie’s factual output.

Alongside factual entertainment shows such as Hunted, The Island, MasterChef and recently announced Loot for Sky1, Shine TV has had success in the factual space with Grierson and documentary The Secret Life of Prisons for Channel 4. The company was also behind three seasons of The Force, also for Sky1.

Brown will aim to build on the foundations laid by those shows. On Hunted, she was series editor before going on to direct the first season of The Secret Life of 4, 5 and 6 Year Olds.

Prior to that she worked on some of C4s most popular doc series including 24 Hours in A&E and Educating Cardiff as series producer and director.

Brown will take up the role in the new year.
