Shaun special flocks to new channels

Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer's Llamas

Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas

Broadcasters in Europe and beyond have acquired Aardman Animations’ recent Shaun the Sheep special, which aired on BBC1 in the UK over Christmas.

France Télévisions, SVT in Sweden, DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway, YLE in Finland, VPRO in the Netherlands and RTVE in Spain are among the European networks to have picked up Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas (1×30′).

Elsewhere, ABC in Australia and BBC Kids in Canada have joined Amazon Prime Video in the US in picking up the special, which is produced and distributed by Bristol-based Aardman.

The story sees Shaun joined on the farm by a trio of llamas, who begin to take over, causing the flock of sheep to grow increasingly suspicious of the exotic animals’ intentions.

The sales come after Turner-owned children’s channel Boomerang recently became the new US broadcast home for the Shaun the Sheep animated series.

Alix Wiseman, head of sales and acquisitions at Aardman, is here in Miami attending Kidscreen to present the company’s slate, which includes third-party shows such as Digby Dragon, Wussywat the Clumsy Cat and Bing.
