Seven new series for 20th Century Fox

LA SCREENINGS: 20th Century Fox Television Distribution has added five dramas and two comedies to its distribution slate following the Upfronts in New York this week.

The comedies include Ghosted and LA á Vegas and the dramas greenlit by the US broadcast networks in the past week are sci-fi themed The Gifted and The Orville, medical series The Resident and emergency procedural 911.

All the six new broadcast shows will be airing on the Fox network next season, while the studio also has new cable drama Snowfall from FX on its LA Screenings slate. The show was announced [1] last fall.

Comedy

Ghosted 20th Century Fox Television, Gettin’ Rad Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, Typo Inc, Additional Dialogue. An LA-based drama about a believer in the paranormal recruited along with a cynical sceptic to explore “unexplained” activity. Starring Craig Robinson (The Office) and Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), the show airs on Mondays at 21.00 on Fox from this fall.

LA á Vegas 20th Century Fox Television, Gary Sanchez Productions, Funny Dunlop Productions, Steve Levitan Productions. Will Ferrell (Elf), Adam McKay (The Big Short) and Lon Zimmet (Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt) are behind this new Fox mid-season comedy. about a self-involved airline crew and the eccentric passengers who every weekend take a roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas every weekend.

Drama

The Gifted 20th Century Fox Television, Marvel Studios. New fall season drama The Gifted is from showrunner Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Good Guys) and has been given the 21.00, post-Lucifer slot on Mondays. This latest comic-inspired drama focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers.

The Orville 20th Century Fox Television, Fuzzy Door Productions. A comedic sci-fi action-adventure set 400 years in the future, following the crew of motley crew of space explorers, from Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy). MacFarlane, Brannon Braga, David A Goodman, Jason Clark and Liz Heldens exec produce this Thursday 21.00 drama. MacFarlane and Adrianne Palicki star.

The Resident 20th Century Fox Television, 3 Arts Entertainment, Fuqua Films. An idealistic young doctor sees the good and evil in modern day medicine under the supervision of his tough but brilliant boss. The mid-season series is from exec producers Amy Holden Jones (Indecent Proposal), Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games).

911 20th Century Fox Television. Described as “a fast-paced exploration into the lives and careers of first responders.” Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) and Brad Falchuk (American Horror Story) and American Horror Story’s Angela Bassett stars. Fox has ordered 13 episodes for mid-season.

Also part 20th Century Fox Television Distribution’s screenings this week is FX drama Snowfall, a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic. The pilot is written by John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood), Eric Amadio (Stuntmen) and Dave Andron (Justified). The series is produced by FX Productions, Show Money Productions, Groundswell Productions and Underground Films.
