Seven finds Faithfull replacement

Australian commercial net Seven has tapped a Beyond Television executive ahead of Janeen Faithfull’s move to local prodco Southern Star.

Therese Hegarty will become Seven’s head of production and rights management on March 16, reporting to new director of production Brad Lyons.

The news comes as a result of incumbent Faithfull’s imminent move to Endemol-owned prodco Southern Star, which tapped her as CEO following the announcement Rory Callaghan was leaving to start a new venture.

Though Southern Star hasn’t revealed when Faithfull starts her new job, Hegarty’s mid-March starting date suggests the former will begin around the same time.

The move is the latest change in Seven’s production unit. Earlier this month, long-serving execs Lyons and Angus Ross were promoted to directors in charge of production and programming, respectively.

This came two months after Tom Worner picked up the baton as Seven CEO, replacing David Leckie, who moved up to the CEO role at new parent company Seven West Media.

Hegarty joins from Australian producer-distributor Beyond, where she has been VP of production business, for the firm’s global programming slate from 2003. She oversaw operational production of international shows such as Mythbusters, Dark Minds, Behind Mansion Walls and Deadliest Women.

“Therese is one of the best in the business. Her wealth of experience will prove invaluable as we look to expand Seven Productions both locally and internationally,” said Lyons.
