Seven falls for period romance

The star of Australian comedy drama Crownies heads the cast of a new romantic period saga set during the 1950s for Australia’s Seven Network.

A Place to Call Home will follow a woman with a mysterious past looking for a home and a wealthy family trying to find its way in a changing country.

The series was created by Bevan Lee (Winners & Losers) and is produced by Chris Martin-Jones for Seven. John Holmes and Julie McGauran exec produce.

The cast includes Crownies star Marta Dusseldorp, Noni Hazlehurst (City Homicide), Brett Climo, David Berry, Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood, Craig Hall, Abby Earl and Aldo Mignone and Frankie J Holden.

McGauran, Seven’s head of drama, described A Place to Call Home as “a sweeping and grand production and our most ambitious to date.”

Filming is taking place in Sydney.
