Sendokai takes on Mid East

MIPCOM: Spanish animated action comedy series Sendokai Champions has been picked up by MBC3 in the Middle East.

The show is set to air across the network’s MENA footprint from August 2014.

The licensing deal follows a pan-regional sale to KidsCo, the international joint-venture kids’ channel from NBCUniversal and Corus Enertainment. The show is poised to premiere on KidsCo’s new SyFy Kids block across its Eastern Europe, South-East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa footprint from October 10.

Sendokai Champions (26×12′), coproduced by Spain’s TVE, Planeta Junior and animation production house Kotoc, follows the adventures of four children who try to save the Earth from a multi-dimensional invasion by mastering the art of Sendokai.

A second 26×12′ season is in production and will be ready for delivery in May 2014.

By summer 2014, the series will be present in more than 130 countries and 16 different languages. It currently airs on TVE’s kids’ diginet Clan, and Cartoon Network across Latin America. A US launch is scheduled for Saban Brand’s Vortexx block on The CW, and in Portugal on Canal Panda.

Spain’s Nottingham Forest Media Advisors is handling international distribution rights to the show.
