Seacrest, CBS sign scripted pact

LA-based Ryan Seacrest Productions (RSP) has agreed a two-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios that will concentrate on developing scripted content.

RSP will develop shows for broadcast, cable and online services as part of the agreement, with the company’s exec VP of scripted programming Nina Wass overseeing the projects.

Wass joined RSP in 2012 following spells at OWN and Touchstone/ABC Studios and the scripted arm has produced shows including the upcoming Shades of Blue for NBC and Mixology for ABC, which has since been cancelled.

The prodco is also currently developing two comedies for ABC, including one based on the novel The Gaggle.

RSP, which produces reality fare such as Keeping Up With the Kardashians, will still control its programming away from scripted and be able to sell that content across networks.
