1 × 50′

With eight arms, nine brains and arms that can stretch to ten meters, Giant Pacific Octopuses are strange creatures.Marine biologist and Wildlife filmmaker Florian Graner exposes the private lives of these relatives of snails and mussels.

He succeeds in filming impressive scenes of a Giant Octopus rendezvous and the unselfish care of a female: for months, the mother-to-be protects and fans her clutch, before she dies, totally exhausted.

At the same time, Florian Graner follows the developments of the young giant octopus Eleonora in the Marine Science Centre at Port Townsend. After a year, Florian - full of respect for a different kind of intelligence, brings the now much larger octopus back to the habitat where it came from.
