Few things say ‘the wild west’ like the intimidating profile of a bison, a true icon of the North American wilderness. The powerful wild cattle, known locally as buffalo, played a key role in the shaping of the continent and the emerging united states, becoming an instantly recognisable symbol of its power. Yet ironically, taming the west meant removing the very icon of it; endless hunting all but wiped it out forever.
Some of the last wild bison found a safe haven in Yellowstone national park, and it’s here we rewind through the life of a bison bull to follow his journey from the day of his birth to his victory in battle. By following our hero, we witness the indominable spirit of a true survivor, an insuppressible, enduring, icon of America.
