The tide retreats from a secluded cove, uncovering a tiny beach. Time passes and it returns, stealing silently in and flooding the cove again. And in the hours between, wonderful stories are told!
CGI animated characters on live action locations, a TV series comprising 52 x 11 minute episodes. Narrative, character-led stories with lots of heart, lightened by slapstick humour and aimed at 3 - 6 year olds.
On a rocky coast, hidden from above by towering cliffs and cut off below by the sea, is a secret cove, with inviting rock pools and a clean, sandy beach which slopes gently down into the shallow, clear waters. This is the closed world of a strangely assorted group of castaways, and their rivals the pirates, a world whose heart beats in tune with the rhythmical advance and retreat of the sea. To them, this mass of water is a living creature, whom they regard with awe and refer to respectfully as 'Tide'.
Tide brings the Castaways exciting gifts, leaving them in full view on the beach, or hidden in the rock pools for them to find. When Tide withdraws, the Castaways emerge to discover what treasures have been left behind. Each story ends when Tide returns, sending them back to the safety of their house, perched high above on the cliff face. In between they work through the highs and lows in their lives, and deal with the pirates, who believe that anything found in the cove rightfully belongs to them, even if someone else has found it first!
