Giant video screens are everywhere in today’s crowded, public places.
In Stand Out From The Crowd any one of these screens can suddenly burst into life and launch a primetime, big-money game show where and when members of the public least expect it.
A hidden host tells the viewing public to complete a task – maybe to buy yellow flowers at the nearest stall. Once someone completes the task the host’s face replaces the adverts or weather bulletins on the giant screen and offers this amazing challenge: “Do you want to win £100,000?”
Cameras come out of hiding, a microphone is attached to the lucky person who completed the task first and a podium is wheeled out for them to stand on.
The contestant then faces a mix of questions and tasks over five rounds during which they can win anything from £100 to £50,000. But they have to do it against the clock. They have just seven minutes and 30 seconds to win a total of £50,000 or they’ll lose everything.
The questions get harder with each round and can include straight Q&As, picture and music questions and funny, physical challenges as well.
Of course, there may be thousands of people gathered round shouting out answers. Complete strangers who can save the day with their knowledge, or accidentally get in the way of a physical task – their help isn’t guaranteed!
If the contestant reaches and wins the £50,000 question they can double their money or lose the lot in a final round. But there’s a twist: there is only one question or task but the contestant has to answer it on their own wearing headphones to block out the sounds of the crowd screaming behind them. Will the gamble pay off?
