Eugène Delacroix – From Paris to Morocco

90’/52’

Eugene Delacroix is viewed as the archetypal French painter, precursor of the Romantic movement. He was inspired by many different influences, often drawn from foreign cultures. Delacroix was also the founder of the Orientalist movement beginning in 1832 after an official journey to Morocco, organized by Louis-Philippe's government. The voyage lasted six months from late January to July, 1832.
Delacroix brought back seven annotated sketch books. The sketch books serve as a log, making it possible to follow his African sojourn. His travels to the East will be recounted in this docu-fiction.
