P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke

Season 1 and 2: 110 x 30'

After 17 years held hostage, their war still continues…

Inspired by hit Israeli drama Hatufim (Prisoners of War), this critically-acclaimed Indian telenovela tells the gripping and emotionally-charged story of two soldiers who, after being held prisoner for seventeen years, return home to their families.

In 1999, on a mission with their unit in the Kargil conflict in Kashmir, three Indian soldiers are captured and taken prisoner in Pakistan. Fast forward to 2016 and our story begins when, unexpectedly, after years of negotiations for their freedom, two soldiers return home to India alive, while the third comes home in a coffin.

Amid the media storm caused by their escape, Squadron Leader Imaan Khan and Officer Sartaj Singh are reunited with their respective families. Seventeen years have gone by, but they must try to pick up where they left off and readjust to normal life. The years they have been apart have left many scars, from the psychological and physical trauma of imprisonment and torture, and also, for their families, from the struggle of living a life on hold, waiting for their return.

But, after many years in captivity, the soldiers also seem to share a dark secret, and, as discrepancies in their stories emerge, a government agent undertakes a secret investigation to uncover the truth behind their return…

Adapted by renowned filmmaker Nikkhil Advani from the hit format which also became the Emmy Award-winning Homeland, P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke is a powerful and intriguing drama exploring whether the soldiers’ longed-for freedom could be just the start of a brand new battle…
