The inspiration for countless movies and songs, New York City is undoubtedly the most electrifying place on earth. A mesmerizing, intense city, NYC continually lures dreamers to its shores, dreamers looking to fulfill their most inner aspirations. Such dreamers are at the center of Checked in N.Y – a pioneering docu-reality format, which tells the stories of different people through the locations that marked their lives in the city. Inspired by the new LBS (Location Based Services) technology, this multi-platform format explores people's journeys in the Big Apple, journeys filled with joy and pain, success and failure, loneliness and love.

Checked in N.Y - The TV Show

The TV show revolves around five distinctive people, all immigrants to NYC. Four of them are longtime residents, while the fifth is a newcomer to the city. Throughout the 40-episode season, the show cleverly combines three time frames – past, present and future – laying out the fascinating stories of those living in the city in parallel to that of the newcomer, whose story is unfolding right before our eyes. The stories are told via the locations most significant to our heroes, with each location having its own, unique, story. The locations could be anywhere In the city, depending on our heroes' particular experiences: a corner shop on 2nd avenue, a park bench in Central Park, a sleazy bar on avenue B or the subway station on 53rd and Lex.

Checked in N.Y – Internet & Mobile

Although related, the internet & mobile format is different to that of the TV show. Checked in N.Y's website will feature the stories of 50 people living in NYC – our five TV heroes included – all linked together in some way. The website will include an interactive map of 1000 locations in NYC, with each location serving as a link to the videos connected to it. Visitors to the site will be encouraged to add their own UGC (User Generated Content) such as photos, videos and responses to specific locations.

An LBS application for smart phones will be available for download from the website, allowing users to utilize and create content. The smart phones' application will offer a “Check In” option at the various locations along with a sharing option on Facebook. The stories of 50 individuals told via locations, combined with the additional network of UGC, will make the application an up-to-the-minute, accessible tour guide for tourists who wish to experience New York City a bit differently.

The Checked in N.Y format can be relocated to any major city in the world, exploring its specific charm, character and locations. The format elements can be enjoyed separately, but jointly, they create an enthralling viewing and sharing experience.
