Sounds like a million is a one hour game show in which the contestants may win juicy prizes according to their musical abilities: singing, dancing, identifying a tune or piece of music and playing instruments will be part of this fun moment on a colorful and modern set where the festive competition will take place.

The mechanics of the contest:

A month prior to recording, an announcement is made through the internet and a call center so that all those who wish to play can sign up, similar to what is done with “The Price is Right”. From the list of people who have signed up, every day 100 of them will come in to play. Once the 100 contestants are in the studio, something similar to the nursery game of eeny meeny miny moe will be used for selection; the audience will have an eye-catching instrument that will begin to be passed from hand to hand as the show conductor indicates; while this happens a jingle will be playing in the background and when it stops it will indicate that whoever has the instrument must make the instrument sound. If the person succeeds in doing so they will come up to play, otherwise the selection will continue until someone makes the instrument sound.

Games:

Buy the Orchestra
In this game the contestant gets a specific amount of money with which he is to purchase different instruments from an orchestra of 16 musicians; his mission is to identify the tune or piece of music they are playing. Before beginning, the host will let the contestant choose a musical note from a pentagram (DO, RE, MI, FA, SOL, LA or SI); behind each of them is a musical genre, like for example SALSA, VALLENATO, MERENGUE, CINEMA AND TV, ROMANTIC, ROCK-POP and CLASSICAL. Once the contestant has chosen a note randomly, and with it the musical genre, the person will begin to choose the instruments in order to discover the tune or piece of music. Each instrument is identified on a board and has a hidden value and executes a specific part of the tune or piece of music. When the contestant chooses the instrument, he or she discovers how much of the budget will have to be given up to purchase the instrument and how important that instrument is in the final tune or piece of music. One of the instruments (previously established) is a wild card that makes the entire orchestra play. The contestant has the chance to say the name of the song each time an instrument is purchased. The contestant wins if the exact name of the song that the orchestra is playing is given, and loses if he or she is unable to identify the song and is left without any more money to purchase more instruments from the orchestra.

At the end of this game the contestant ends up with some money and the chance to go to the next round. In case the song is not identified, the game ends for the contestant.

The record player
The contestants that have passed on to the second round will face a roulette in the shape of a record player; in the roulette the contestant has the possibility to double the money he or she has so far (the money left over after buying the instruments in the first game), win prizes or lose everything since the roulette slots have the following categories:

DOUBLE THE MONEY: if the contestant’s ball falls in this slot, the money accumulated so far is automatically doubled.

LOSE ALL: if the ball falls in this slot the contestant loses all the money.

DANCE MASTER: if the ball falls in this slot the contestant must pass a dance test and add a certain number of points to double his or her money.

FALL ON THE NOTE: if the ball falls in this slot, the contestant must continue singing a song after it is interrupted. If when the song resumes playing, the contestant and the singer come in at the same time, the money is doubled.

KARAOKE: if the ball falls in this slot, the contestant must sing X song and a software will rate the performance; if it is above 50 points then the money is doubled.

The finale:

The three contestants that have participated in the game will have one last chance: the orchestra will start playing tunes and whoever identifies it will get a point for each right guess. At the end, the contestant with the majority of points can choose a musician from the orchestra who will have a key, as well as the other musicians; if the key that the selected musician has turns on the car in the studio, the contestant takes it home.
