PART I: “THE VALLENATO-SINGING PRIEST
Emiliano Larios was torn between his love of music and his family’s desire that he become a priest. When Blanca Moscote, daughter of the late owner of the Hacienda where Emiliano works, returns from Europe to take over, his dreams of priesthood are forgotten as the two quickly fall in love. But when Blanca’s estranged Italian husband turns up, Emiliano leaves for a seminary in Spain. There he learns accordion and returns to his country to stake his claim in love and music. Reunited, Blanca and Emiliano try to escape but their plans are foiled. Blanca’s husband and her ambitious older brother kill Emilano.
A year after his death, accordions begin to arrive straight from the plant in Germany.

PART II: “THE COUNTRY’S SOUL”
The love story in this stage involves Abel Moscote, son of Francisco and grandson of Emiliano, the protagonist of the first part, and of Adaluz, a reluctant beauty queen hopeful. Abel is a musician just like his grandfather before him and he assembles a Vallenato group with his cousins, Diomedes and Concepcon, and together they go to Barranquilla to try their luck. It is there that the love between Adaluz and Abel will flourish, but it must be kept a secret from her father, who is also the group’s boss. But secrets never last and amidst the excitement of the beauty pageant, which Abel is hosting, their love is made public and the lovers must act quickly in order to be together. In the end, love and music conquer all as Abel and Adaluz wed the day the cousins launch their own radio station, and even Conception –who had been written off as a hopeless spinster- finds bliss in the arms of Conrado, a kind-hearted widower who had given up on love.
