One of the Amazon’s first original comedies, Alpha House, is returning for a second season this autumn alongside new series Transparent, with a variety of others in progress, including its debut unscripted project from Oscar-winning documentary maker Alex Gibney.

Lewis reflects on Amazon’s ambitions to put a level of investment into content “commensurate with any of the premium networks that are out there” and the changing nature of that content.

“When I look at what we’re doing, the fact that you can watch shows anywhere at any time, the hardest part is figuring out what we are making. As the platform changes, the product’s changing as well. It’s not TV like it was in the past. It’s not movies. I think it’s something in between,” he says.

“To me that’s the scariest and most exciting thing – that we don’t fully know what television’s going to look like in 10 years.”
