TALKING SHOP: Alison Stewart, head of production, animation and acquisitions at UK preschool channel CBeebies, discusses the challenges of producing drama for very young audiences and gives her assessment of Cartoon Forum 2014.
Stewart also outlines how, with the preschool audience's appetite for mobile content bigger than ever before, the channel is approaching digital content. The channel's first app is a year old, while it has also developed a game designed to bridge audiences between CBeebies and older-skewing CBBC.
"We're changing the architecture of the way we deliver our digital now at the BBC. When you make a game, it should be responsive and able to play on all platforms," Stewart says.
Meanwhile, Stewart says came back from Cartoon Forum this year impressed by the ways producers are now expanding their brands online and taking advantage of the opportunities outside of linear TV.
