American pubcaster PBS launched in the UK at the turn of the year but faces a challenge to draw viewers high up the Sky EPG, and because of the rights situation around the programmes that air in the US.
Kingsbury says: "If you talk to Americans, or people who have spent time in the States, they have a great fondness for the channel, but for UK viewers it's an unknown brand and we're still in the awareness-building phase. That's the priority for us moving forwards.
"We're using the new programmes that are coming out from PBS as ways of generating press interest, getting audiences to those programmes and raising awareness of the channel as a whole."
