Genres: Documentary, Factual

People: Nick Mirsky

Countries: UK

Mirksy joined C4 as deputy head of factual in February 2012, having previously worked at the BBC, including as a producer on 20 high-profile Louis Theroux-fronted docs such as The Most Hated Family in America and Behind Bars.

He talks to C21 about how he'd like to take his experience of working with Theroux on his BBC shows and apply that to new commissions at C4 that could have talent in front of the camera.

Mirsky also reflects on the demise of BBC3, which produced two of his favourite factual projects of the last 12 months, The Revolution Will Be Televised and The Call Centre, and how C4 can help fill that gap when the BBC moves its youth-skewing channel wholly online.

There are further tips for producers on what to pitch and how to do it.
